Welcome To My Blog

Welcome to my blog and thank you for checking in.

I have been photographing and documenting life around me since I first ventured out with my Kodak Instamatic in the 1960’s. Alas, I don’t have any snaps from then but I have managed to save a few from the 70’s and more regularly from the 80’s.

Most of my early snaps are typical holiday scenes and unfortunately not very interesting for anyone other than me and my family.

In the mid 1980’s I became fixated with Formula 1 motor racing and, living and working near Brands Hatch in Kent, I was regularly able to visit the circuit and photograph some of the famous drivers at the time testing their cars before races.

Nigel Mansell with Leo Sayer, Silverstone, 1989

With my trusty Olympus Trip I even managed to grab some pictures of Ayrton Senna secretly testing his Lotus – these were published the following week in both Autosport and Motoring News.

It wasn’t until the advent of digital cameras in the late 90’s and my move to Spain in 2002 that my interest in street photography took hold.

Old photographs of people and places taken by masters of photography, such as Robert Frank, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Vivian Maier, Don McCullin and, more recently, Martin Parr, fascinate me. These artists inspired me to take a deep breath and exhibit my own attempts.

What makes a good photograph is highly subjective. Some of the images I feel are my best, others find not so. Some I would consider poor, others find interesting.

I hope with this, my new dedicated website, there will be something for everyone and that, with this blog, you will be able to join me on my adventures.

Thank you for logging on.
